Overview

The Pima County Sheriff's Department continually recruits for positions other than Deputy Sheriff and Corrections Officer. Civilian opportunities are varied and include clerical, technical, service/maintenance, and professional positions. Some of these positions require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Civilian personnel play an integral role in dealing with the public and providing support to deputies and corrections officers in law enforcement and community service areas.

All positions with the Pima County Sheriff's Department require satisfactory completion of a background investigation, polygraph, and drug screen. The hiring process is very detailed and may take up to 6-8 weeks to complete.

1212 - Supply Technician - Senior (Inmate Property) ($13.85 Hourly)

Job Description - Receives, issues, inventories and stores supplies, materials and equipment.  Performs various processing tasks and manual duties requiring familiarity with the supply and/or property   operations.  Some positions perform duties in law enforcement or corrections environments and may include daily contact with inmates.  Some positions may perform duties in a medical setting and be required to order, handle, store, and deliver hazardous materials.

Minimum Qualifications - (1)  Two years of experience in receipt, inventorying and distribution of supplies, materials, property and/or equipment.
OR:
(2)  One year of experience with Pima County as a Supply Technician, Supply Processing and Distribution Technician I or Supply, Processing and Distribution Technician.

1351 - Accountant (Inmate Records)​​​​​​​ ($19.15 Hourly​​​​​​​​​​​​​​)

Job Description -Performs professional accounting work in various departments of the County, requiring theoretical knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices and methods of professional accounting.

Minimum Qualifications - (1)  A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or a closely related field as defined by the Appointing Authority.  [Professional-level accounting experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis; four years of professional experience in accounting may be substituted for the degree requirement.][Paraprofessional accounting experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a two-to-one basis, e.g., two years of paraprofessional experience may be substituted for one year of education.]
OR:
(2) An Associates degree or at least 30 semester hours in accounting from an accredited college or university and two years of professional accounting experience . [Four years of paraprofessional accounting experience may be substituted for the two years of professional experience.]
OR:
(3) Three years of experience with Pima County as a Senior Accounting Support Specialist.

4716 - IT Technical Support Analyst​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ ($54,600.00 Annually​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​)

Job Description - Installs, configures, deploys, trouble shoots and maintains client computing and communications hardware, software and associated peripherals infrastructure following generally defined procedures and practices for clients of the Pima County Information Technology (IT) Department or within an Elected Official's IT team. 

Minimum Qualifications - (1) A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the appointing authority at the time of recruitment.
OR:
(2) An Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or a closely related field as determined by the appointing authority at the time of recruitment and two years work experience in information technology, including the maintenance and administration of client computing or communications hardware and software infrastructure.
(Additional relevant work experience/education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

7130 - Program Coordinator - Sheriff - Unclassified (Media Specialist)​​​​​​​ ($55,182.40 Annually​​​​​​​)

Job Description - Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of a specific, single functional program. This is appointed, unclassified and exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Minimum Qualifications - A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Broadcasting or Journalism with a major in public or business administration or a field closely related to the program as defined by the appointing authority and two years of program administration experience.

(Additional relevant experience/education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.
